Villa Ava is part of the Four Seasons Villas, inside the resort on Punta Mita's gated peninsula on the Riviera Nayarit. The arrangement is the appeal: a house of your own, with the resort's restaurants, spa and beach club available whenever you decide they are, and a concierge to keep all of it quiet.
Four bedrooms and five bathrooms for eight guests. The proportion is deliberate. This is a house sized for one group rather than a crowd, which means mornings can happen at different speeds: someone up at six, someone else not before ten, and no negotiating over a bathroom or the last of the coffee.
The private pool is the centre of most days. Around it, the resort keeps its own rhythm: tennis in the early hours before the heat, water sports through the middle of the day, the beach club for the long flat part of the afternoon. Meals can be taken at any of the resort's restaurants or brought back to the villa, which is usually what happens by the third day. From November to March the humpback whales pass along the coast, and the Islas Marietas, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, lie offshore. The concierge will handle the arrangements for either, and for most of what comes up in between.
Premier Sport membership is included. It opens Punta Mita's private beach clubs and its sports facilities, which is what most weeks here actually ask for.
Villa Ava is a recent addition to the collection, and it still has the particular ease of a house that has not yet decided what its habits are.
